Simple daily care will help keep your Horizon Stone silica-free stone benchtop looking its best. Follow any product-specific care instructions supplied with your surface.

01. Everyday Cleaning

Clean with warm water, a soft microfiber cloth and a small amount of mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent. Wipe again with clean water, then dry with a clean, soft cloth to remove residue and minimize streaks.

02. Spills and Stubborn Marks

Wipe up spills promptly, particularly coffee, tea, red wine, turmeric, food coloring and oils. Do not leave lemon juice or vinegar on the surface for extended periods.

Soften dried food residue with warm water before gently wiping it away. For persistent marks, contact Horizon Stone for advice on a suitable non-abrasive cleaner. Test new cleaning products in an inconspicuous area and follow the label instructions.

Avoid forceful or repeated scrubbing. If a mark remains, seek advice before using a stronger cleaner.

03. Cleaning Products to Avoid

Do not use oven cleaners, drain cleaners, paint strippers, nail polish remover, bleach, strong acidic or alkaline cleaners, or harsh solvents.

Avoid steel wool, abrasive cleaning powders and scouring pads, which may damage the surface finish.

If an unsuitable household cleaner contacts the benchtop, remove it promptly and wipe thoroughly with clean water. Contact Horizon Stone if discoloration or changes to the finish occur.

04. Heat Protection

Always use a suitable heat-resistant trivet or heat pad beneath hot pots, pans and oven trays. Direct heat and sudden temperature changes may cause discoloration, cracking or other damage.

Use appropriate heat protection beneath appliances that release heat towards the benchtop, including air fryers, electric fry pans and slow cookers. Follow the appliance manufacturer’s ventilation and clearance requirements.

05. Preventing Scratches, Chips and Damage

Always use a chopping board when cutting or preparing food. Lift cookware and heavy objects instead of dragging them across the surface.

Protect exposed edges from impacts, which may cause chipping.

Do not stand, sit or climb on the benchtop. Avoid placing concentrated or excessive weight on overhangs or near sink and cooktop cut-outs.

06. Caring for Different Finishes

Matte, honed and textured finishes may show fingerprints, oil marks and cleaning residue more readily. Clean gently and dry thoroughly.

Do not use abrasive polishing or buffing methods to restore shine. Do not apply sealers, waxes or surface coatings unless Horizon Stone has confirmed their suitability for your specific product.

07. Indoor Use and Repairs

Horizon Stone silica-free stone is intended for indoor applications. Outdoor use is not recommended. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat to help minimize the risk of discoloration or damage.

Protect the benchtop during building or renovation work. Keep tools, paint, adhesives and other construction materials away from the surface.

Ask your installer to remove silicone, adhesive or paint residue. Do not attempt removal with blades or harsh chemicals. Alterations and repairs should be carried out by a qualified stone professional.
